London-based studio One of Us helped create the look and visual tone of ‘Bridgerton,’ the new Netflix series created by Chris Van Dusen. One of Us created 336 visual effects shots using a wide range of tools including Foundry’s Nuke and Mari, Autodesk’s Maya, SideFX’s Houdini, SpeedTree and Adobe Photoshop.

Based on the novels of Julia Quinn, Bridgerton follows Daphne Bridgerton, the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family as she makes her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market.

One challenge faced by One of Us VFX supervisor Victor Tomi and his team was the accurate portrayal of the streets and buildings of Georgian London. An example is the two fine houses on Grosvenor Square that are home to the show’s principal families. Filmed at separate locations many miles apart, the goal was to bring the two buildings to face each other across the square. Both houses were modeled based on LIDAR scans of the originals and then enhanced with embellishments and vegetation.
