Check out this amazing & insightful VFX Breakdown "A Christmas Carol" by the talented team at Framestore. For more information, please see the details and links below :

Framestore was the overall creative partner for VFX for the FX Network / BBC adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Written by Steven Knight, Framestore was on set consulting throughout production and was integral to developing the series’ visual language and design while also being responsible for the delivery of all the show’s 600+ cinematic-quality VFX shots.

Here's how the show came together.

Playing such a key part in a project’s creative development is becoming increasingly common for episodic projects at Framestore because of the efficiencies it provides. ‘With streaming services and broadcasters needing to deliver increasingly higher quality programming, Framestore is more frequently being asked to manage the overall delivery of VFX for a show,’ said Michelle Martin, Head of Television at Framestore. ‘This lets us, as a creative partner, get our teeth into a project to create something really visually exciting while providing better efficiencies right from the start of production.’

Steven Knight's A Christmas Carol was produced by FX Productions in association with the BBC, Ridley Scott’s Scott Free and Tom Hardy’s Hardy Son & Baker and starred Guy Pearce, Andy Serkis and Stephen Graham.
